Ben Franklin Elementary School has been recognized with a Bronze PBIS Award for 2025, honoring its commitment to fostering a safe, supportive, and predictable learning environment. Newark City Schools proudly announced the achievement this week, celebrating the school’s dedication to student well-being and behavioral excellence.
"The school has earned the Bronze PBIS Award for 2025 from the Department of Education and Workforce and the Ohio PBIS Network - a celebration of their work to create a positive, predictable, and safe environment for all students," Newark City Schools said.
The award, presented by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce in partnership with the Ohio PBIS Network, highlights schools that demonstrate quality implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is a framework designed to improve student outcomes by promoting positive behavior and creating inclusive school climates.
Each year, the PBIS Recognition System honors schools and districts across Ohio for their consistent use of the PBIS framework. Awards are given at four levels: bronze, silver, gold, and district distinction. During the 2023–2024 cycle, 604 schools and districts received recognition, including 48 gold awards, 129 silver awards, 401 bronze awards, and 26 district-level honors.
With its Bronze Award, Ben Franklin Elementary joins a distinguished group of schools across Ohio making meaningful progress in fostering supportive, inclusive learning environments. The school was also recognized with a Bronze PBIS Award for the 2022–2023 school year.
Ben Franklin Elementary is located at 533 Beacon Road, Newark, OH 43055.
