The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team, ranked 12th, faced a challenging match against the 8th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University in the Crossroads League Tournament championship on November 15. The game, held in Marion, Indiana, ended with a victory for Indiana Wesleyan University.
In the first set, Morgan Schlabach tied the score at 6-6 with a kill assisted by Reagan Nuss. Evelyn Brown later put MVNU at set point with another kill assisted by Nuss. However, Indiana Wesleyan quickly responded and won the set 25-23. The second set was similarly competitive, but IWU managed to secure it with a score of 25-22.
MVNU attempted to gain an early lead in the third set, reaching a score of 5-3 following a kill by Brown assisted by Kate Ruffle. Despite their efforts, IWU pushed back and reached set point with a decisive kill, winning the third set 25-22 and completing a sweep over MVNU.
Schlabach led MVNU's offense with ten kills and two service aces. Libby Evanshine contributed eight kills while Brown added seven. Jaelyn Tang recorded 12 digs and five assists, and Nuss finished with 24 assists and 14 digs.
The next step for MVNU is awaiting their placement in the National NAIA Women's Volleyball Tournament. The announcement will be made on Monday, November 17 during the selection show scheduled for 5:00 p.m. EST.
