The Fredericktown Local School District will host a series of community events throughout the first two weeks of November, including a blood drive, a Veterans Day tribute, and a community bazaar.

The blood drive will be held at the Fredericktown High School gymnasium, 111 Stadium Drive, on Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The American Red Cross will be providing gift cards to each donor, according to Fredericktown Local Schools. The school is inviting the community to participate in the blood drive.

"Your single donation can help save up to three lives, whether it's an accident victim, a cancer patient, a new mother, or a transplant recipient," the organizers stated. "Your impact helps patients AND their loved ones."

In addition to encouraging blood donations as a meaningful act of service, the Fredericktown Local School District will be honoring veterans at its Veterans Day Assembly at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the High School/Middle School office. Complimentary donuts and coffee will be served during the event. Both veterans and active-duty members are invited and requested to RSVP to Tracey Ruhl at truhl@fredschools.com or call 740-694-2726.

"Veterans, we’d be honored to celebrate you. Join us for our school Veterans Day assembly on November 11 at 9:00 AM," a social media post reads. " All veterans and active-duty service members welcome. Thank you for your service."

Last year, the veterans and other active-duty members were joined by Captain Emily L. Tharp, U.S. Coast Guard Commanding Officer, U.S. Coast Guard Yard. Capt. Tharp graduated from Fredericktown High School as the co-valedictorian of the class of 1997.

A community bazaar will follow on Saturday, Nov. 15, inviting families, school staff, and teachers to support more than 100 local vendors by purchasing from them. It will be held at the Elementary, Middle/High  School Commons from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The event, the organizers said, is "the perfect chance to get a jump start on your holiday shopping, support local vendors, and soak up all the festive fun!"
