Utica High School's cross-country team recently participated in the Woodridge Invitational held at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio. The event took place on a challenging course known for its hills.
Senior Camryn Baker achieved a notable victory by winning the race in the Maroon division for the second consecutive year, finishing with a time of 21:53.7. Other scorers for the Utica high school girls' team included freshmen Addy Baird, Shay Firman, and Taleah Clark; sophomores Liliana Molden and Brooklyn Macy; and junior Kaylee Linger.
According to Baker, "This season has meant so much to me honestly. This team has been like no other I have ever been on. I have been running since I was in the 4th grade and I have never made more memories with any other group of people."
The girls' team secured fourth place in their division, surpassing six other teams. They also had four medalists, indicating that four runners finished among the top 25.
In the boys' division, Utica placed second, narrowly missing first place to West Geauga by nine points. The leading runner for the boys was sophomore Sam Krueger, followed by senior Hayden Quinif; juniors Andrew Bebout and Holden Quinif; senior Nate Hite; freshman Cody Baker; and sophomore Blake Lewis.
