The East Knox High School has released its back-to-school health check reminders for families and students of Junior and Senior High School students.

In its School Nurse Newsletter, families are reminded that the deadline for submitting immunization documentation is Thursday, Aug. 28. Parents with questions or clarifications are advised to reach out to the school nurse at 740-599-7000 ext. 2006 or email johara@ekschools.org.

"If your student is not up to date on their school required immunizations, you should have received a letter in the spring," the newsletter reads. "You may also call the nurse to ask."

Students may receive their immunizations at the Knox Public Health and Community Health Center or at the Nationwide Children's school-based health center at Mount Vernon High School.

With the theme, Healthy, Safe and Ready to Learn, the newsletter outlines clear guidelines for when students may return to school after experiencing specific illnesses or injuries. Conditions such as fever, vomiting, pink eye, infectious rashes, lice, and concussions require students to be symptom-free or cleared by a healthcare provider before returning. It also addresses injuries that limit physical activity or require assistive devices, emphasizing the need for medical clearance.

If medication must be given at school, parents must submit a completed General Medication Administration Form, and all medications must be in their original containers. Students are not allowed to bring their prescription medications unless these are emergency medications that have been authorized by their doctor and have proper documentation on file with the school.

Additionally, for students with diet restrictions (tube feedings, allergies, or intolerances) or medical treatments, a doctor's note must be submitted. The school requests that the note provide clear instructions to accommodate the student's needs.

Families are encouraged to sign up for text notifications from the school nurse by scanning the QR code on the newsletter or by sending a text message to @6c3a79 to the number 81010.
