The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County has announced its youth services fall programs, which include storytime and other free activities for children. These events are open to the public.
According to the library, it will host free Youth Services fall programs starting September 15, 2025. Registration for storytime begins on August 25, while registration for other programs starts on September 2. Storytime options include Baby Storyland on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. for ages birth–24 months, Storytime for Twos and Early Threes on Wednesdays at either 9:30 or 11 a.m., Preschool Storytime on Thursdays at the same times, and Family Storytime on Mondays. All sessions will be held in the Youth Storytime Room with supplies provided.
The library also offers the "Fall into Fun" series for children aged 5 through third grade. This program runs from September 15 to October 27 on Mondays from 4:30–5:30 p.m., featuring activities such as crafts, snacks, experiments, hikes at Wolf Run Regional Park, and themed sessions like "Playing with Leaves" and "Monster Mash." The "Adventuring into Fall" program is available for fourth and fifth graders on Tuesdays from September 16 to October 28 during the same time slot. It includes projects like campfire cooking, walking stick crafts, nature art, and seasonal crafts. Supplies are provided, and parent participation is required for children under nine.
Other activities include a Lego Club for ages five through fifth grade scheduled for September 17, October 15, and November 19 from 4:30–5:30 p.m., as well as the unveiling of the library's new mascot for 2025, Jelly the axolotl. Reading initiatives such as "1000 Books Before Kindergarten" and "500 Books" for grades K–5 are also part of the offerings.
The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County serves the community by providing educational, cultural, informational, and recreational resources across multiple locations in Mount Vernon, Fredericktown, Danville, and Gambier.
