Newark City Schools are helping parents get ready for the upcoming school year by sharing important information and key updates.
Families are encouraged to review the full 2025–26 school-year calendar and prepare by checking updated school supply and fee lists.
According to the school calendar, the first day of school is set for Thursday, Aug. 14, and will include students in grades 1–5, 6, and 9. All students in grades 1–12 will report on Friday, Aug. 15, while kindergarten students will participate in screenings and a gradual phase-in over the first six days.
School fees for kindergarten through grade 5 will range from $45 to $50. Supplies may need to be refilled or replaced during the year—please check with your child’s teacher for updates. Any unneeded supplies will be sent home.
Middle school students will have a base school fee of $25, with additional charges for art and health classes. Supplies may also need to be replenished throughout the year, and individual teachers may request additional items.
Parents are also invited to the annual Rally in Alley on Aug. 2 to access assistance with different school needs.
Finally, if you’re not yet connected to ParentSquare, now is the perfect time to sign up. ParentSquare allows families to manage contact preferences, receive updates, and stay engaged throughout the school year. It replaces previous communication apps such as Remind, ClassDojo, SeeSaw, and Band.
