The Fredericktown Freddies concluded the 2025 baseball season with a record of 8-16, yet their performance in the latter part of the season has sparked renewed enthusiasm and pride within the program.

According to head coach Ryan Hathaway, the varsity team overcame a challenging start to find its stride when it was most crucial. "We played our best baseball at the end of the season," Hathaway said. "This team got our program back to where it’s expected to be."

Leadership and resilience were key factors in the team's resurgence. Hathaway noted that his senior players stepped up during difficult times, providing guidance with composure and passion. "They played their best when we needed it most," he added.

In postseason play, Kaine Sheriff delivered two pivotal wins as a pitcher, while Carter provided strong defensive support as catcher. Their teamwork and determination propelled the Freddies through an impressive tournament run.

Despite these achievements, challenges remain for the team. The need for more consistent starting pitching and dependable relief pitchers to maintain late-game leads is evident.

Hathaway also addressed a broader issue concerning field conditions, advocating for community investment in better facilities. "We lost seven games and drove 90 minutes for a playoff because of field conditions," he said. "It’s time we invest — not for us, but for all of Freddie Nation."
