Commissioner Tim Bubb | Licking County

Licking County Commissioner Tim Bubb testified before the General Assembly in support of House Bill 199, which updates definitions and regulations of all-purpose vehicles, utility vehicles, and similar vehicles.

According to a news release from the County Commissioners Association of Ohio (CCAO), HB 199 is sponsored by Representatives Kevin Miller and Phil Plummer. It is a reintroduced version of HB 237 from the 135th General Assembly, which the CCAO also supported. The association expressed appreciation for the bill's sponsors' collaboration with its Justice and Public Safety Committee on the legislation.

The release states that HB 199 updates the definition in the Revised Code of all-purpose vehicles, utility vehicles, and others to reflect modern manufacturing specifications. It allows for effective titling and registration of these vehicles for road use while preserving existing agricultural exemptions for certain vehicles. Additionally, it permits counties to regulate the use of these vehicles on county roads.

The release mentioned that Bubb testified and answered questions from committee members, including Representative Dan Troy, a former CCAO president and Lake County Commissioner. The CCAO encouraged its members interested in testifying on a bill to contact its policy team at policy@ccao.org for assistance in the process.

The CCAO website outlines that the organization advances effective county government for Ohio through legislative advocacy, education and training, technical assistance and research, quality enterprise service programs, and greater citizen awareness and understanding of county government.
