Marley Boone, a high school senior from Danville, is charting a path toward a career in nursing with a focus on pediatric care. Currently performing with her sister Quincy as The Boone Girls at local venues, Marley has set her sights on becoming a nurse who specializes in caring for babies and their families during challenging times.

Her aspiration to work in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) was influenced by her sister's employment at Nationwide Children's Hospital and her own experience caring for her younger sister Willow. "I had the opportunity to help take care of my little sister as a baby," Marley shared. This early exposure to childcare inspired her career choice.

Marley is planning to enroll in the nursing program at Central Ohio Technical College (COTC), having already completed many prerequisite courses through College Credit Plus classes. She intends to pursue further education after COTC to achieve her goal of working with infants and their families facing difficult circumstances. "It’s not all about what ages of babies I want to work with; it is also the conditions they may have and the hard times their families may be going through," she explained.

Guidance counselor Vicky Dillon expressed confidence in Marley's future success, highlighting her leadership roles and academic achievements. "The students in our school look up to her as a role model," Dillon noted.

While pursuing her nursing ambitions, Marley plans to maintain strong family ties and continue enjoying activities such as horseback riding and playing guitar. She dreams of owning a small farm where she can raise horses and share this lifestyle with her future family.

For now, Marley will keep performing locally with Quincy, while young Willow learns the violin, potentially expanding their musical group into The Boone Girls Trio.
