Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) has announced updates to the Ohio rural intercity bus program, GoBus, specifically affecting Schedules 60 and 61 on Route D. These changes took effect on April 9, 2025, as detailed in a press release issued on April 10, 2025.

According to HAPCAP, GoBus has revised Schedules 60 and 61 by adding new stops in Akron, Utica, and at Ohio State University in Columbus. Conversely, stops in Martinsburg, Harrison Township, and Shreve have been removed. The new Akron stop is situated at the Metro Transit Center; Utica’s stop is located at Circle K on South Main Street; and OSU’s stop is at 1739 North High Street. These fixed-route buses operate daily throughout the year, including holidays, connecting over 40 locations across Ohio with safe and affordable public transportation.

Schedule 61 now departs from Akron at 6:10 a.m., more than three hours earlier than previously scheduled. It travels through several cities before reaching Columbus Airport at 9:40 a.m., continuing shortly after to OSU. Schedule 60 returns to Akron from Columbus, departing at 11:40 a.m., four hours later than before. The Mount Vernon stop remains unchanged at Colonial City Lanes. Ticket prices start at $5 for one-way travel. Riders can utilize Knox Area Transit’s on-demand service to reach the GoBus stop with fares starting at $1.

GoBus was launched in 2010 and is managed by HAPCAP as part of the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) Rural Intercity Bus Program. By collaborating with carriers and transit hubs such as Greyhound, Barons Bus, and John Glenn Columbus International Airport, GoBus provides ADA-accessible motor coaches accommodating up to 50 passengers with modern amenities. Fares are mileage-based to ensure affordability and reliability statewide.

HAPCAP has been serving Southeast Ohio for over five decades with more than 30 programs designed to address poverty and promote self-sufficiency. Its services include early childhood education through Head Start, youth employment initiatives, housing and utility support, transportation options like GoBus and local transit systems, along with community development efforts. Additionally, HAPCAP operates the Southeast Ohio Foodbank and offers health-focused support via community health workers. The organization mobilizes resources aimed at strengthening individuals and communities across the region.
