Addy Bocock struck out 14 and tossed a complete-game shutout to lead Danville to a 6-0 win over Cardington-Lincoln on Monday.

Bocock allowed just two hits and walked two over seven innings as the Blue Devils improved their record behind a strong all-around effort.

Danville jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Addison Mickley homered to right field to open the scoring, and Ruby Bartok followed with an RBI single.

Abi Sapp pushed the lead to 4-0 with a two-run home run to right in the second. Taylor Meade added an RBI single in the third, and Danville scored once more to close out the six-run effort.

The Blue Devils finished with 10 hits, including two each from Mickley, Sapp and Meade. Sapp and Meade also drove in two runs apiece. Danville drew five walks and stole four bases.

Cardington-Lincoln’s Ariana Simpson pitched all seven innings, giving up six runs on 10 hits. She struck out 10 and walked five.

Celia Hall and Abigail Hardwick each recorded a hit for the Pirates.

Danville and Cardington-Lincoln are scheduled to meet again Wednesday.
