Knox County Career Center (KCCC) announced that 17 students participated in the SkillsUSA State Competition held March 18-19 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. The announcement was made in a press release on April 1, 2025.
The SkillsUSA State Competition in Ohio gathered over 5,000 participants, including competitors, industry professionals, and educators, across more than 100 contests representing 16 career pathways. According to KCCC, seventeen of its students competed in various events, demonstrating their expertise in precision machining, health technologies, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).
Albert Ross earned a gold medal in CNC turning and will advance to the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta from June 23-27. Evan Williams placed third in CNC milling. Iona Hickerson, Miracle Bartal, and Emma Seymour secured third place in the health services career pathways showcase. Dylan Springer also placed third in HVAC. These results highlight KCCC students’ strong performance across multiple disciplines.
"All of our students did an excellent job competing at the SkillsUSA State competition. I am extremely happy for Albert. He is a bright young man who has spent a lot of time perfecting his craft with the CNC Turning competition," said Joe LaFevre, KCCC’s SkillsUSA co-advisor.
