According to the game report, Kurek led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 with two triples and a double. His extra-base hits helped power the Jackets, who took an early lead in the first inning when Kayden Packard drove in a run with a double. Packard also excelled on the mound, earning the win after pitching six scoreless innings. The right-hander allowed just five hits while striking out seven without issuing a walk. Cam Firebaugh closed out the game, securing the save.
Defensively, Mount Vernon was flawless, playing error-free baseball. Kurek anchored the defense with a game-high 10 chances in the field. Mount Vernon will look to build on this shutout victory when they host Pickerington Central on Tuesday.
