The Dawes Arboretum is inviting individuals ages 16 years old and above who are interested to learn about taking care and maintaining a bonsai.

A two-hour workshop beginning at 10 a.m. will be held at the Dawes Arboretum Visitors Center at 7770 Jacksontown Road, Newark, OH, 43056 on Saturday, March 29.

"Join us for an introduction to Indoor Bonsai where you will learn how to repot, prune roots, propagate from cuttings, and style a bonsai via directional pruning and wiring of branches and trunks!" the event announcement reads. "Dip your toes into a new artistic side of caring for plants and you may never look at trees the same again! This class is also ideal to build confidence for pruning your houseplants or landscaping plants and to de-stress."

Workshop students will be given a pre-bonsai tree such as a 1-3 year-old rooted jade or a dwarf jade among others. Along with a tree would be a printed hand-out of the lesson and the basic materials they need for the class including soil and a pot.

The Dawes Arboretum, founded in 1929, is an organization with almost 2,000 acres that is committed to improving lives through the conservation of nature.
