The Danville Blue Devils softball team achieved a decisive victory on their home field Saturday, defeating the Hamilton Township Rangers 10-0 in a five-inning game.
According to the match report, Danville's offense gained momentum in the third inning, scoring three runs. They added four more in the fourth and secured the win with an additional three runs in the fifth inning, resulting in a mercy-rule victory. Pitcher Addy Bocock delivered an outstanding performance for the Blue Devils, pitching a complete-game one-hitter while striking out 13 batters and allowing just one walk. She faced 18 batters and threw 74 pitches, with 51 of them being strikes.
Hamilton Township struggled offensively, managing only one hit and striking out 13 times against Bocock. The Rangers' pitching staff also faced challenges; their starting pitcher allowed three earned runs on five hits over three innings, while their relief pitcher gave up seven runs on nine hits in 1.2 innings.
Danville's offensive efforts were led by Alicia Humphrey, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI. Merista Brown contributed with three hits as well, while Addison Mickley and Ruby Bartok each hit doubles. The Blue Devils were active on the base paths, stealing six bases overall, with Mickley successfully swiping three.
