The Ohio Association of Litter Prevention and Recycling Professionals (OALPRP) is offering the C.R. Meyers Scholarship, a $1,000 award granted annually to a deserving student. This scholarship aims to support students in Ohio who are pursuing higher education in environmental sciences or environmental education.
To be eligible, applicants must reside in Ohio and be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited Ohio college, university, or technical school.
Applicants will be assessed based on three primary criteria: a one-page essay of up to 500 words showcasing originality, creativity and practical insights (40%), active participation in community and school activities with a focus on environmental stewardship (40%), and a recommendation letter from a guidance counselor or academic adviser (20%).
Candidates must complete their application by the deadline of April 15 to be considered.
The scholarship honors C.R. Meyers, a long-time Ashland County Commissioner who played a vital role in Ohio’s environmental efforts. He served on the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Recycling and Litter Prevention advisory board, advocating for litter prevention and recycling programs. His dedication to environmental causes and support for OALPRP’s mission made a lasting impact.
