Licking/Knox Goodwill Industries, Inc. has announced the acquisition of the former Kroger building at 240 Deo Drive in Newark, Ohio. The new facility will be named Goodwill Plaza.

The new Goodwill Plaza will accommodate several operations for the organization. It will include relocating the current Goodwill Plaza retail store, hosting the organization's online auction platform (shopgoodwill.com), and establishing a new donation center with a centralized donation processing operation. This expansion aims to enhance Goodwill's retail offerings and create employment opportunities, particularly for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

Timothy J. Young, CEO/President of Licking/Knox Goodwill, said that "the current facility on Hopewell Drive is excellent for the organization's recycling operations but not sufficient for a centralized donation processing center." He added that "the introduction of centralized processing will enable Goodwill to create more supported employment opportunities for our community and improve pricing consistency across all our retail locations." The addition of the Goodwill Plaza location is expected to initially create 20 new jobs in the community.

Young emphasized that this opportunity was made possible through community generosity and support.
