Starting March 1, kindergarten registration for Mount Vernon City Schools will be open for the 2025-2026 school year. Children who will be turning 5 years old by August 1, 2025, are eligible to register.
Parents are advised to complete the online registration before contacting their home area attendance school to schedule their children’s registration time. The following information should be ready before beginning the online registration:
- Contact details, including home numbers and personal and work email addresses
- The child's health information
- Emergency contact details other than the parents’

The following documents are required to register kindergarten students:
- Photo ID of the Parent/Guardian
- Child's Original Birth Certificate
- Proof of Residency in one of the following forms:
- Mortgage statement
- Utility bills (gas/electric/water)
- Lease
- Deed
- Property tax statement
- Immunization Records
- Current IEP/504 Plan (if applicable)
- Current Documentation of Custody (if applicable).
