Dixie L. Swadener Gough, 85, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, at her home.
She was born March 5, 1939, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late Lloyd K. Swadener and Margaret Mary (Price) Swadener Pahl.
Dixie was salutatorian of Mount Vernon High School in 1957 and placed first in Knox County and ninth in the state of Ohio in scholastic achievements in accounting. She studied accounting at Ohio State University.
Dixie married Thomas E. Gough in 1960 and was a loving mother and devoted wife for 64 years. She was the financial controller of the Capital Improvement Board of Managers of Marion County, Indiana, for over 37 years, retiring in 2009. Dixie and Tom lived in Indianapolis for 30 years before moving to Noblesville in 1988.
Dixie is survived by her husband, Thomas; sons Bradley (Elissa) Gough, Brian (David Price) Gough, and Noel Todter; two granddaughters, Erika (Dylan) Zwier and Rachel (Sergio) Gomez; one great-granddaughter, Camila Gomez; one step-granddaughter, Holly Wigell; and her beloved canine daughter, Gabby. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Rozie Short, and Robert and Janie Gough; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Charles Pahl; parents-in-law, Albert M. and Gladys L. Gough; her sisters, Leisle Pfouts and Mary Jo Peck Bauer; brothers-in-law, Francis Pfouts, Donald Peck, William Keyler, and Albert E. Gough; sisters-in-law, Alice Keyler and Marilyn Gough; and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Todter.
Services were held on Monday, Jan. 27, at the Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville, IN. Burial followed at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
