Charles Richard Cook, 87, of Mount Vernon, Ohio passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at Laurels Nursing Home in Mount Vernon.
He was born Aug.16, 1937, in Williamstown, West Virginia to Homer and Monty (McCartney) Cook.
Charles married Mary Ellen Wilson on Sept. 17,1960. He worked for Weyerhaeuser, making cardboard products for 44 years. As a member of Central Christian Church, he donated monthly to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
He liked watching his grandchildren play sports, especially Nate, who was a bit favored. He enjoyed his granddaughters, teasing Darbey, coming to Heather’s farm to see the chickens, and Baleigh’s cooking - no matter what it was. The Buckeyes were always on the television, and he was thrilled at the championship!
Surviving are his wife, children Tammy (Bruce) Smith and Terry (Jon) Smith, three granddaughters, and ten great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl and Cecil Cook, grandson Nate Smith, and his son-in-law Jon Smith.
Friends may call Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Mount Vernon Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Andy Beatty officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
