The East Knox Bulldogs secured a decisive victory over the Mount Gilead Indians with a score of 42-25 in girls varsity basketball on December 20, improving their season record to 3-4. The Indians, now holding a 4-4 record, faced challenges with shooting and rebounding throughout the game.
According to reports, the Bulldogs dominated the boards, outrebounding the Indians 42-21. Despite achieving only a 28 percent shooting rate from the field, East Knox's defensive and rebounding prowess was sufficient to clinch the win. In contrast, Mount Gilead managed just a 19 percent shooting accuracy.
East Knox's performance was spearheaded by Malena Streby, who contributed 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Jasmine Smith supported with 7 points and 4 rebounds, while Molly Totten added to the victory with 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.
Faith White emerged as Mount Gilead’s key player by scoring 13 points and maintaining a perfect free throw record of four out of four. Kendall Neal also contributed with seven points and achieved a shooting percentage of fifty percent from the field.
Both teams ended up with seventeen turnovers each; however, East Knox's strong defensive pressure and rebounding were pivotal in securing their win. The Bulldogs are set to face Genoa Christian Academy next on Saturday, December 28 at 2:30 p.m., with Genoa entering the match boasting an impressive record of eight wins against two losses.
