Members of the Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon gathered early Dec. 16 to pack food boxes and sort clothing and toys for The Salvation Army’s Christmas Distribution.
The club noted this annual service project is one of their favorites, offering a chance to spread holiday cheer to local families in need.
“Kiwanians took time this morning to help pack food boxes and sort clothing and toys for The Salvation Army of Mount Vernon OH Christmas Distribution,” Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon Ohio said on Facebook. “This is always one of our club’s favorite service projects! Happy Holidays!!”
Earlier this month, Kiwanis and the Rotary Club of Mount Vernon competed in a fundraising contest to see which group could raise the most money for The Salvation Army.
The friendly competition saw both groups out in force, with Kiwanis members raising funds at Walmart.
The collaboration between Kiwanis, Rotary and local businesses highlights the community’s spirit of giving and commitment to making the holidays brighter for families in Mount Vernon.
Park National Bank noted its employees who participated in Kiwanis efforts.
“Thank you to our very own Kiwanians, Wendi Fowler and Matia Mathews! We love your commitment to helping make things merry and bright for the holiday season,” said on Facebook.
