Cougars Triumph Over Campbellsville on Champions of Character Day

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s basketball team (4-4) secured an impressive 85-78 victory against Campbellsville University (6-4) on Tuesday, November 26, during Champions of Character Day at Ariel Arena. The event welcomed students from Mount Vernon city schools, adding energy to the thrilling non-conference matchup.

The Cougars started strong, jumping to a 19-2 lead before Campbellsville battled back to tie the game at 26. Despite trailing 37-42 at halftime, MVNU regained control in the second half. A clutch three-pointer by Trent Koning tied the game early, and key plays, including a highlight dunk from Bailey Conrad, sealed the Cougars’ victory.

Conrad shone with 29 points, while Koning added 21. MVNU’s sharp three-point shooting (60%) and defensive pressure limited Campbellsville to 26% from deep. Coach Ronai praised his team’s growth and resilience in the hard-fought win.
