Homer Public Library announces August 2026 schedule of community events

The Homer Public Library announced its lineup of events for August 2026, offering a range of activities for various age groups throughout the month.

On Mondays at 10:00 am, the library will host GetSetUp – Exercise & Health sessions with Kathy, designed as a monthly meetup for adults aged 55 and older to learn about an online learning community. On Thursday, August 6 at 11:00 am, Jason Barber from TLC Insurance Group will lead a Medicare Discussion covering different Medicare options and answering questions.

A Recipe Exchange is scheduled for Friday, August 7 at 11:00 am. Participants are encouraged to prepare and share a dish they have never made before and bring the recipe. Guests are welcome to attend as taste testers without bringing food. Table service and drinks will be provided.

Teen-focused events include Teen Crafting on Tuesday, August 11 at 5:30 pm with ceramic figurine painting led by Miss Lauren (registration required), Teen Paint Night on Tuesday, August 18 at 5:30 pm (registration required), and Teen Movie & Pizza Night featuring the Disney Pixar film 'Hoppers' on Thursday, August 20 at 5:00 pm (registration required; RSVP by Wednesday, August 19).

Other recurring programs include Ukulele Association of Homer meetings on Thursdays, August 13 and August 27 at 5:00 pm with opportunities for ukulele practice and free lessons; Community of Women gathering on Tuesday, August 18 at 2:00 pm; Brunch and a Movie on Friday, August 21 at 10:00 am (RSVP by Thursday, August 20); Book Club discussing 'Briar Club' by Kate Quinn on Friday, August 28 at 11:00 am; Brown Bag Wellness with Kathy on Friday, August 28 at noon; and an informal meeting of the Homer Historical Society on Friday, August 28 at 2:00 pm where attendees can share local history items.
