The Centerburg Trojans girls basketball team earned a dominant 56-30 win over Heath on Friday, November 22nd, with standout performances from Kayla Larimore and Tiara Sheppard.
Larimore led the Trojans with 27 points and 7 rebounds, while Sheppard added 13 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals. Kenlee Fairall contributed 7 points and 7 steals in the victory.
Centerburg’s defense stifled Heath throughout the game, holding the Bulldogs to just 33 percent shooting from the field and forcing 36 turnovers.
Centerburg head coach Bill Abner reflected on the win, noting some early struggles but praising his team’s overall effort.
“We had a frustrating start by missing 11 shots at the rim in the first half, which we need to clean up. But I was pleased overall with our energy, and after we settled down, we played better. Heath is well coached and always plays hard, so it was a good first game for us,” Abner said.
The Trojans will look to build on their strong defensive performance as they move forward in the season.
