The Knox County Task Force for Older Adults held its monthly meeting in November.
As the holiday season unfolds, holiday meal bags are available to homebound seniors in need. This typically includes a ham, two cans of green beans, two cans of carrots, a bag of instant potatoes, an apple, an orange, and rolls. Sometimes, mini pies and bags of cookies are donated.
"We have lots of holiday meal bags remaining. So far, only 16 out of 120 bags have been spoken for," said Molly Morehouse, vice president, The Knox County Task Force for Older Adults. "Please reach out if your organization would like to pass out some bags to your seniors."
If interested, include the number of bags you would like as well as your point person for pickup and reply to: Molly.Morehouse@kch.org by Wednesday, Nov. 27.
"The items can vary some based on current market prices," said Morehouse.
Meals will be packed on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Station Break.
The items are delivered at approximately 10 a.m., packed at 10:30 a.m., and asked to be picked up by 12:30 p.m.
"We do require the organizations to have a point person to collect and deliver the bags themselves so please keep that in mind," said Morehouse.
Also, please reach out to Morehouse if interested in learning more about committees as well as joining the task force.
There is no December meeting. The Knox County Task Force for Older Adults will reconvene in January 2025 at Station Break.
