Dr. Daniel Lee | Knox County Task Force for Older Adults

Partners with the Knox County Task Force for Older Adults will host two events aimed at assisting community members affected by dementia and Alzheimer's, along with their families. The programs are scheduled for January 29 and February 20.

According to a release from Brookdale shared at the Knox County Task Force for Older Adults meeting on January 15, the Embrace Family Partnership Program by Brookdale will host an event titled "Living Well with Dementia: Meaningful Engagement and Connections." This session is set to take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on January 29 at Brookdale Mount Vernon, located at 1615 Yauger Road. Interested participants can RSVP by calling 740-392-8245.

A separate release from the Alzheimer's Association Northwest Ohio Chapter shared at the task force's meeting indicates that Dr. Daniel Lee will present another free program titled "Navigating Anti-Amyloid Therapies for Alzheimer's Disease" on February 20 from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. The neuropsychiatrist will deliver this presentation at the Mansfield-Richland County Public Library, situated at 43 W 3rd St., Mansfield. Lee will discuss how to navigate these groundbreaking new treatments and explain available options. Pre-registration is required and can be completed by calling 567-302-3610 or emailing JenCMiller@ALZ.org. A light supper will be provided.

During the task force meeting, Mobility Management announced that Project Sidewalk is now live. Community members can engage in a virtual walk to evaluate Knox County's walkability through a website available at https://sidewalk-knox.cs.washington.edu/. This platform allows residents to identify access issues and assess their severity, labeling crosswalks, ramps, and traffic lights for passability while noting where sidewalks end abruptly or crosswalk ramps are missing.

According to the task force meeting minutes, a new year of events is planned at Station Break, with sponsors being sought for various occasions such as Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Mother's Day Tea Party, Memorial Day, Men's Day Breakfast, and a Halloween Party. The task force is also considering a website design with an initial fee of $6,500 and an annual maintenance fee of $2,300; information merger costs are estimated at $45. A group discount would be available if other agencies express interest in participating. A survey will be distributed regarding the selection of a web developer.
