Mount Vernon Nazarene University Theatre is set to present the play "Bedtime Stories: As Told by Dad (Who Messed Them Up)" with its final performances scheduled for Friday and Saturday. The production will take place in the Thorne Performance Hall of R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Center.

According to an MVNU news release, the play was written by Ed Monk. Doors will open at 6:25 p.m., with the show starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for $10 general admission or $8 for children and MVNU students, purchasable online at theatre.mvnu.edu or at the venue.

The news release describes the play as a family-friendly, humorous retelling of classic fairy tales, incorporating unexpected twists as Dad narrates bedtime stories to his three children. These unconventional versions include a snoring prince in "The Princess and The Pea," a dinosaur in "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," and a gold-to-straw dilemma in "Rumpelstiltskin."

MVNU Theatre Program Director Sydney Moon said, "The audience will love the energy and humor this cast brings. We’ve developed full backstories and motivations for each character, allowing the actors to make hilarious additions to the story. It’s a story that will delight all ages with laughter and surprises."

This marks Moon's first year as director of the program. She brings extensive experience from her studies at Liberty University and participation in various productions. Her background in theater and graphic design allows her to be actively involved in set, costume, and lighting design.
