For many in the community, the ER is the “front door” to the Knox Community Hospital (KCH).

“We have seen an increased number of patients with chronic and severe illnesses compared to past years,” said Trent Timmons, DO, Emergency Services.

As our population increases, a major renovation and expansion of the ER will help fill this compelling community need.

This project will add much-needed space for improved access, maintaining comfort and privacy until patients move on to the next phase of care. Specifically, the project includes five additional exam rooms, a second triage room, and a new Computed Tomography (CT) scanner adjacent to the ER for potentially faster diagnoses and action.

Since 2021, patient acuity has increased. The average number of patients presenting in the ER with life-threatening issues has increased by more than 45%, and the average number of patients aged 17 and younger has increased by 26% over the last three years.

To support this critical project, the Foundation for KCH has launched a capital campaign, “Growing the ER for a Growing Community,” to raise $1 million. The Ariel Foundation has established a matching fund grant to challenge and inspire donors, matching donations 1:1 up to $300,000 over the next two years.

With your active support, the Foundation for KCH will collectively execute a successful campaign and ensure the continued health of our vibrant, growing community. To donate towards this campaign, visit https://shorturl.at/v72tk or call 740.393.9602 for more information.
