Rutter places 5th in 100 meter hurdles to qualify for states

Marissa Rutter’s outstanding track and field season will continue, as the senior Mount Vernon sprinter placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles at the OHSAA Regional Championship meet to advance to the state championship meet.

Rutter wad sixth in the preliminary race with a time of 15.58, and then improved in the finals to take fifth with a time of 15.00.

In the 300 meter hurdles, Rutter placed seventh with a time of 45.49. This was also an improvement off her preliminary time of 46.23, where she placed eighth.

She was also on the 4x100 meter relay team, which placed 12th with a time of 50.47. Rutter posted a time of 50.47 in her leg. Other members of the team were Nadia Nougi (12.03); Savannah Rose (13.12) and Amaris Middleton (12.54).

In the pole vault, Kennedy Howard had a height of 10 feet, four inches for 10th, and Bailey Thayer had a height of nine feet for 15th place.

The boys’ athletes were led by Cole Wilson, who placed 11th in the 400 meters with a time of 51.07 in the preliminaries. 

Wilson was also on the 4x400 meter relay team that placed 14th with a time of 3:31.33. He had a time of 51.38 in his leg. The team included Zane Barber (54.5); Brady Wiles (52.96) and Logan Eggert (52.49).

Eggert placed 16th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:04.05

Luke Mullins was 14th in the discus preliminaries with a toss of 128 feet, 11 inches.

The state championship track and field meet will take place on May 31 at Welcome Stadium in Dayton.
