The Knox Community Hospital Auxiliary recently awarded 12 $1,000 scholarships to area high school and college students pursuing an undergraduate degree in health care.

Students were considered based on their scholastic standing, community involvement, as well as financial need. Auxiliary scholarship committee members received and considered applications from several different schools prior to making their selections. The following students received scholarships: Alayna Arnal, Gregory Beard, Adyson Beaver, Clara Johnson, Lance Jones, Natasha Jose, Ellianna Martin, Grace Mayville, Daniel Pastor, Cordillia Richert, Madelyn Sinsel, and Taylor Tenzos.

Additionally, this was the eighth year for the Nellie & Lowell Truex Memorial Scholarship, which was awarded to Arwen Furnis. All scholarship recipients are residents of Knox County.

The Auxiliary is a group of volunteers who raise funds for these scholarships through annual fundraising events held at the hospital. Proceeds from sales in the KCH Gift Shops also support the scholarship fund. For information on volunteer opportunities at KCH, please contact the Marketing Department at 740-393-9086.
