The Mount Vernon City Council has given the green light to a comprehensive development plan by Lemmon Development. The proposal entails the construction of 108 village units and 48 apartment units on an Upper Gilchrist Road property.
According to the draft minutes from the Mount Vernon City Council's April 22 meeting, the North Canton, Ohio-based developer plans for all buildings to be single-story. All villa units will exceed 1,200 square feet and apartment units will be more than 700 square feet, surpassing the minimum requirements for the Planned Neighborhood District.
The motion for approval was made by Councilmember Amber Keener and seconded by James Mahan, as per the same source. Councilmembers Mel Severns and Mike Ruckman also voted in favor of the Planned Neighborhood District comprehensive development plan. However, Councilmembers Tammy Woods and Janis Seavolt were not in agreement with the plan.
The development project is set to include a clubhouse, pickleball courts, walking trails, and an open area. According to the council's draft minutes from April 22 meeting, it is expected that the development density will be approximately 4.6 units per acre.
As stated in these draft minutes, two parking spaces per unit are required which totals up to 312 spaces. However, Lemmon Development has plans to include as many as 528 spaces.
