Church drives in 4 for Highland in win over Galion

Jayden Collins set the table nicely, while Kort Sears and Zach Church combined for seven RBIs, in a 12-5 win for Highland over Galion on April 16.

Collins led off the game with a single and then Sears reached on an error to put runners at first and second. Church sacrificed to move the runners up, and Morgan Kline hit a two-run single to right. After a Brooks single, Gavin Wiggand brought him home on an RBI single to make it 3-0. The Tigers put a run on the board in the bottom half of the opening frame to make it a 3-1 game.

Highland added a run to go up 4-1 in the second inning on an RBI single by Sears, which scored Collins. Galion was able to make it a one run game on a two run triple by Braxton Prosser in the third inning, and then tied the game when Prosser scored on an error.

In the top of the fourth, Sears gave Highland the lead with a sacrifice fly to right. Then in the fifth inning, Evan Johnson hit an RBI single. Hendrick Karya was hit by a pitch, and then Rhett Russell walked to load the bases. Collins was able to draw a walk, which brought Gage Partin in to score. Sears walked in a run as well, and Church followed with a two run single to put Highland up 10-4. 

Highland put two more runs on the board in the seventh inning on a single by Church, and while Galion scored in the bottom half of the inning, the Fighting Scots held on for the win.

West Holmes had 13 hits, 11 RBIs and six walks in the game. Collins was 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and four runs scored out of the leadoff spot. Church was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a walk, a run and four RBIs. Sears drove in three runs, while going 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Kline was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run.

Sears picked up the win, going four innings, allowing four runs but two earned, six hits and a walk, while striking out two. Brooks pitched two and one-third innings allowing one unearned run and two walks, while striking out one.
