Robert "Bob" William Wiley, loving husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle, brother, and "most interesting man," passed away peacefully at home Thursday, February 29, 2024.
Bob never met a stranger and all who met him felt like they had known him for years. His personality was as big as his giving nature. He lived a life full and full of life and lived it his way.
Bob was born on May 10, 1952, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to Bill and Ruth Wiley.
Bob was active in all sports at Mount Vernon High School and quite talented in many. He developed a love for flying planes and earned his pilot's license at the age of 17. After graduating from Mount Vernon High School, Bob attended the University of South Carolina and Toledo University, where he was a spirited collegian and member/President of the pharmacy fraternity Kappa Psi. He graduated with his Doctor of Pharmacy from Toledo in 1975.
Moving to Florida in 1976, Bob opened, owned and operated Sun Discount Pharmacy in New Smyrna Beach for 25 years. He continued his passion for entrepreneurship through many successful ventures as a business owner, property owner and land developer.
Married to the love of his life Sharon Kernica for 35 years, Bob and Sharon raised a family of three wonderful boys and together continued many successful business adventures, including creating and owning CorkScrew Bar & Grille.
Bob enjoyed flying, boating, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, being a longtime Anglers Club member, classic cars, and traveling to fun unique places where "palm trees grow naturally." He also loved music, especially the Beatles, George Jones, Willie Nelson, and Elton John. Family, friends, animals and nature were also very special to him, including family time, family vacations, gathering with friends and dog friends. Bob was a great father and best friend to his now grown sons.
Bob leaves behind his loving family, wife, Sharon; sons, Jeff (Shelley) Wiley, Ross (Melissa) Wiley, and Jed Wiley; grandson, Fisher Wiley; sister, Ann (Monty) Busick; brother, Don (Cynthia) Wiley; and many nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by his father, Bill Wiley; mother, Ruth Wiley; daughter, Erin Wiley; brother, David Wiley; dog, Buddy Wiley, and too many wonderful friends too soon.
Bob lit up a room with his wonderful personality. He loved large and was a good friend to all. His love of storytelling, fun banter and laughter will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved Bob. As Bob would say, "Every Little Thing Is Gonna' Be ALLLL-RIIIGHT!"
