Mayor Matt Starr | City of Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon is set to host a scrap tire recycling event in late March, in collaboration with the Delaware Knox Marion Morrow Solid Waste District. The first four tires can be recycled for free at this event, which is exclusively open to Knox County residents.

According to a Mount Vernon press release, the Scrap Tire Recycling Event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until dumpsters reach maximum capacity, on Saturday, March 30. The venue for the event is the city's Street Department facility located at 1700 Old Delaware Road.

The same press release from Mount Vernon informs that after the first four tires, each additional tire will incur a cost of $1.50. The limit is set at 10 tires per vehicle and only cash or checks will be accepted as payment.

In another note from the Mount Vernon press release, it was clarified that the scrap tire event will only accept standard passenger vehicle tires. Agricultural or semi-tires are not eligible for this recycling initiative. Tires must be dropped off without rims or tubes. For any queries related to this event, individuals can contact on 740-393-9501.
