Roman Gamble had a huge double-double for Utica (5-9, 3-6), setting the pace scoring and grabbing boards in a 58-51 come-from-behind win over Heath (10-4, 7-2) on Jan. 28.

Utica went up 5-0 to start the game, highlighted by a three for Logan Gosnell. Roman Gamble drove toward the basket and drew in defenders, leaving Gosnell wide open at the top of the arc. He splashed the open look three and it was a hot start for the Redskins. Heath went on a 6-2 run but Gavin Chinn put a halt to that with a steal. Up 9-6, Gamble got in front of a pass for a steal. He also hit two threes to make it a 15-8 game. Heath went on to score the next five points, and Utica led 15-13 after one quarter.

In the second quarter it was the Roman Gamble show, as he went off for 10 points to give Utica a 14-12 second quarter advantage. He had 16 points at the half, leading the Redskins to a 29-25 lead.

Heath outscored Utica in the third quarter to take a 36-34 lead, but then Gamble took matters into his own hands to lead the Redskins on a 24-13 fourth quarter. He had 10 points to lead the charge, completing what was a terrific 28 point performance.

Gosnell and Hunter McKinney each put up 11 points. McKinney was outstanding on defense and held Heath’s top scorer, Jax Duston, to zero points. Dylan Yates had a solid all around night with six points and seven boards. Gavin Chinn put up four rebounds along with his two points.

“Roman was tremendous all game he also had 10 rebounds 3 assists and 2 steals,” said Coach Brian Radabaugh, who was impressed with his team’s perseverance in the win. ”We led most of the first half but had a tough third quarter. The guys toughness, togetherness, and execution was exceptional in the fourth quarter and overtime. Our belief and determination and willingness to sacrifice for each other got us the W.”

Next up for Utica is an away game against Granville (10-5, 2-3) starting at 7:15 p.m.
