The Village of Fredericktown has submitted applications for over $1.3 million in funding aimed at improvements to its streets, a bridge, and sidewalks. The announcement was made by Mayor Jerry Day during his State of the Village address.

According to a post on the Village of Fredericktown's Facebook page, the Village Council applied to the Ohio Public Works Commission for funds intended for the 2024 Street Improvements. The estimated cost for work on East College Street, stretching from east of North Main Street to Mont Vernon Avenue, is $229,000. The village has requested funding to cover 48% of the total project cost.

In another application detailed in a post on the Village of Fredericktown's Facebook page, $500,000 in federal funding was sought for aesthetic enhancements to the bridge on State Route 93, colloquially known as "overpass". It is believed that decorative railings and street lighting could potentially attract more visitors to the local business community. Structural improvements to this bridge will be undertaken by the Ohio Department of Transportation.

A third application seeks $600,000 in federal funding which would facilitate the construction of approximately 2,500 linear feet of new sidewalk according to another post on the Village's Facebook page. This proposed sidewalk would connect West Sandusky Street and the Fredericktown Local School campus with Bollinger Drive. This development aims at creating safer pathways for pedestrians, strollers and people using mobility devices by keeping them off roads. If funded, it is anticipated that this project would be constructed in 2028.
