A 43-year-old man from Mansfield has been apprehended in relation to a bank robbery that occurred at the First Federal Savings and Loan in Centerburg on Thursday morning. The suspect, Richard D. Poole, was arrested at his residence later that day.

According to a Facebook post by the Knox County Sheriff's Office, Poole was held in custody at the Knox County Jail as of Friday, Jan. 5.

The Sheriff's Office revealed that evidence directly implicating Poole in the robbery had been discovered, including money found at his arrest location, as stated in their Facebook post.

In a collaborative effort, the Mansfield Police Department and the Allied Special Operations Response Team assisted with both the investigation and arrest process, as mentioned in another Facebook post by the Knox County Sheriff's Office. The case remains under investigation.

The Sheriff's Office expressed gratitude towards local residents and witnesses for providing tips and information that significantly contributed to Poole's arrest, according to yet another Facebook post by them.

The Mount Vernon News reported on Jan. 4 that an armed suspect had robbed the First Federal Savings and Loan in Centerburg on Thursday. The perpetrator reportedly used a cane and feigned blindness before escaping on foot.
