The Mount Vernon Nazarene University School of Nursing and Health Sciences is set to receive a visit from an accreditation team in February 2024. This visit marks another step in the ongoing process towards securing continuing nursing professional accreditation.
According to a press release from Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) will conduct its visit from February 12-14, 2024. The university's school is seeking continued nursing professional accreditation through the CCNE for both its Traditional and RN to Bachelor of Science undergraduate nursing degrees.
The MVNU press release further elaborates that the CCNE, an autonomous accrediting agency, accredits baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing via a non-governmental peer review process. It holds nursing programs accountable to their communities of interest. The CCNE evaluates how successfully a program meets established goals that are appropriate for the preparation of professional nurses. It also assesses which standards are being met and to what extent, fostering continuous improvement within the program. Furthermore, it informs the public about the values and purposes of accreditation by identifying which nursing programs meet accreditation standards.
As per the MVNU press release, schools must offer communities of interest an opportunity to provide third-party comments directly to the CCNE. These comments are accepted up until 30 days before the on-site evaluation commences. Only the evaluation team has access to these comments, which should be sent to: thirdpartycomments@ccneaccreditation.org.
