Dog owners in Knox County have just over a month to renew their pet licenses before they expire. The deadline for renewal is January 31, 2024.

According to the Knox County website, there are two physical locations and an online platform where pet owners can handle the renewal process and pay associated fees. These include the Knox County Dog Shelter at 325 Columbus Road and the Knox County Auditor's Office at 117 East High St., Mount Vernon. Alternatively, renewals can be made on the dog licensing website at https://www.doglicenses.us/OH/Knox/.

The Knox County Auditor's Office website states that dogs older than three months must be licensed. Applications submitted after January 31 will incur a late penalty. Licensing options include one or three-year terms, or a permanent license.

The cost of a renewal license for 2024 is $16 as a base fee, with an additional online filing fee of $2.25, bringing the total cost to $18.25 per dog, according to the Knox County Auditor's Office website. The price for a new license is identical. A three-year dog license totals $51.40, while those wishing to permanently license their pets will pay $166.40, inclusive of online fees.

The same source also notes that licenses are mailed to dog owners. They should allow up to ten business days for processing and delivery.
