The Knox County Memorial Building has received an $11,695.50 grant as part of the Ohio Arts Economic Relief Grant Program.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, Lt. Gov. Jon Husted and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced more than $2.4 million in grant awards for arts organizations on Nov. 1, according to a press release from the Department of Development.

Knox County was one of 12 counties where grants were awarded, with sixteen different organizations receiving these funds as part of the third round of the Ohio Arts Economic Relief Grant Program, said the Department of Development.

The Department also specified that these grants would help cover employee compensation, rehiring, recruitment, rent or mortgage payments, training expenses, and operating costs.

Arts organizations have already received approximately $43 million in funding from the first two rounds of the program stated the Department of Development; among them are The Woodward Opera House Conservancy which was awarded $10,824 and MTVarts Inc., which was awarded $25,017 during the second round.

Finally, to be eligible for this program an organization must either be a performing arts organization that produces or presents performances in music, comedy or related fields; or it could be a cultural arts museum with a primary purpose related to exhibiting property for artistic or aesthetic purposes affirmed by the Department's press release.
