Obituaries: Louis Michael Burcsak | Snyder Funeral Homes, Flowers Chapel

Louis Michael Burcsak, 78, of Mount Vernon passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening, August 6, 2023 at home due to complications with leukemia. He was born on April 26, 1945 in Youngstown to the late Louis G. and Mary (Yanchek) Burcsak.

Louis graduated from Struthers High School in 1963, where he was a member of the Chess Club, Rifle Club, and the National Honor Society. He honorably served his country in the Army serving during Vietnam and received medals in Nation Defense Service, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Champaign. In March of 1973, Louis earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Youngstown State University. After college, Louis worked for Owens Corning and ATO Construction. He moved to Mount Vernon in 1980 and worked for Cooper Energy Services and Rolls Royce. He retired from Rolls Royce in 2011. He was a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Louis was a loving and deeply caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was married for fifty years to his devoted wife, Dolores on June 23, 1973. Louis enjoyed Big Band music, WWII history, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Louis is survived by his loving wife, Dolores A. (Harding) Burcsak; son, Stephen and daughter-in-law, Janelle; two granddaughters, Emma and Ava Burcsak; sister, Barbara (John) Spano; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his son, David John Burcsak on September 30, 2013.

The family was received friends from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Flowers Chapel, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon where a prayer service was followed the visitation.

Mass of Christian Burial was be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 303 East High St., Mount Vernon with Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as the Celebrant. Burial was followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Mount Vernon with Military Honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
