Jon Edward Myer Sr., age 79, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born on July 6, 1944, in Doylestown, Ohio to the late George Thornton and June Carolyn (Eberhardt) Myer.

After retiring from 40+ years at Coopers/Rolls-Royce he became a “Yoder Toter”. He enjoyed making friends in the Amish Community and talking and learning from them.

Some of his favorite times were weekend trips to the West Virginia property with his brothers, son, grandsons, nephews, and friends riding 4wheelers and shooting.

His favorite title was Papaw. His grandkids gave him a new reason for living. He spent hours teaching them to swim, riding 4wheelers, eating popsicles and ice cream. He was always up for a trip anywhere with them.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley P. (Jackson) Myer, a son, Tony (Rebekkah) Myer, daughter, Clarissa (Trevor) Dillinger, six grandchildren, Marlee (Preston) Holmes, Amelia (Nick) Simpson, Brett (Emma) Dillinger, Jackson (Faith) Myer, Charlie Myer, Lucy Myer, a great-grandson, Theo Holmes, brothers, David Myer, and Fred (Carmen) Myer, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
