William Thomas Streby, age 71, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, joined his Lord and Savior on September 3, 2023. He was born on January 7, 1952 in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of Henry and Anna Mae (Lower) Streby (both deceased). He was a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
William was a 1970 graduate of Fredericktown High School. He attended elementary and middle school at St. Vincent’s in Mount Vernon. William retired from Ariel Corporation in 2019 having been employed as a machinist for the entirety of his employment there and previously at Cooper-Bessemer (Rolls Royce and Superior Division), and HPM in Mt. Gilead. William was meticulous with and immensely enjoyed his employment career.
William enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and solving the world’s problems with witty conversations with his brothers. Most especially, he enjoyed his family and was beyond proud of his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participating in all of their extra-curricular activities and was moved to tears by the love they shared with him.
William is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Terry, and his sons, Jacob (Carrie) of Bladensburg and their children, Nathan and Malena; and Benjamin (Jonelle) of Mount Vernon and their children, Will, Robbie, Emma, and Joey. William is also survived by his brothers, Mike (Peggy) and Charlie (Joanie) Streby. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Jim (Jo) Streby.
William was also blessed to have loved his nieces and nephews, Aimee (Dave) Humphrey; Josh (Elizabeth) Streby, Henry (Jeanine) Streby, Juston (Julie) Streby, Keri Streby, Tabitha (Chas) Jordan, and David (Tayler) Streby; and many grand nieces and nephews.
There was be no calling hours however a memorial Mass was be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond was be the Celebrant of the Mass beginning at 10:00 A.M. Burial was take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon. A luncheon was followed burial at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church office, located near the church (red building with white pillars on High St.)
