Clarence Adrian McKinney | Mount Vernon Nazarene University

Mount Vernon Nazarene University's Schnormeier Gallery is currently hosting an exhibition by Clarence Adrian McKinney titled "Embarrassments of a One-Sided Friendship." The solo alumni exhibition will run until Dec. 7.

According to an MVNU press release, the exhibition delves into the societal phenomenon of one-sided relationships and the dynamics of isolation. McKinney uses various mediums on wood and linen to create specific and random imagery that explores themes of authentic intimacy. The artist aims to reveal sometimes embarrassing details about himself that the viewer is not fully "let in on."

Clarence Adrian McKinney, a 2003 graduate of MVNU, has gained recognition for his artwork both nationally and internationally. He has received prestigious awards such as the Aaron J. Gardner World Award of Arts and the Grace Ann Dauberman Lifetime Achievement Award for the Arts.

Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with McKinney and learn more about his work during a gallery talk scheduled for Nov. 10 at 5 p.m., as part of the university's Homecoming celebrations. Following the talk, there will be an open reception from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Schnormeier Gallery is located at 221 S. Main St., Mount Vernon, on the first floor of MVNU's Buchwald Center. It is open Monday through Friday, from 1-5 p.m. For further information, interested individuals can contact the Schnormeier Gallery at artgallery@mvnu.edu.
