Ashland (5-4, 3-3) took it to Ohio Cardinal Conference rival Wooster (2-7, 1-6) on Friday night, handing the Generals their fifth straight loss in a 34-0 blowout led by a three touchdown effort by running back Cayden Spotts.

Spotts scored on an eight yard run in the first quarter and Carson O’Brien kicked it through to make it 7-0. He scored again on a four-yard run in the second quarter. Nathan Bernhard then hit Michael Franz on a screen pass, where he danced around defenders and sped to the end zone for a score. O’Brien made it 20-0 on the extra point, which was the score after two quarters.

In the third quarter, Bernhard ran the ball in from four-yards out, and O’Brien hit an extra point to go up 27-0. Spotts went off for an 85-yard touchdown run where he found a hole and wove his way through defenders for the big score. O’Brien put the Arrows up 34-0 for the final.

Spotts had 17 carries for 198 yards and three scores. He showed both power and speed in his runs throughout the game. On one 27-yard run he blasted through the line, barreling over defenders and nearly broke free for a 55-yard score. 

Bernhard was 4-for-4 for 115 yards and a touchdown. Bernhard ran nine times for 27 yards and a score. Gabe Baith had two catches for 56 yards, and also ran the ball three times for 18 yards. Baith had a catch and run of 57 yards where he almost got to the end zone before being knocked down near the goal line.

The Ashland defense was just as on point as the offense. The Generals turned the ball over three times, with two fumbles lost and and an interception thrown. They had 186 total yards, with only nine coming on the ground on 30 attempts.

This is the final week of the regular season and Wooster hosts Talawanda (2-7, 1-2)on Friday at 7 p.m. in a non-conference matchup. Ashland travels to Lexington (4-5, 3-3) for a conference matchup at 7 p.m. on Friday.
