East Knox's Lester throws three TDs in 42-28 win over Redbirds

Jax Lester threw for three touchdowns and Blake Elliott ran for two scores to lead East Knox (6-3, 5-1) to a 42-28 win over KMAC rival Loudonville (3-6, 2-4) for their second straight win.

Elliott started the scoring with a 27-yard touchdown run, and a Will Jensen kick made it 7-0 after one quarter. In the second quarter, Bryar Householder caught an eight-yard touchdown pass, and Jensen knocked it home for a 14-0 lead. They went up 22-0 on a three-yard run by Elliott with a two point conversion. Lester continued the first half scoring onslaught on a six-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Field, and Jensen’s kick made it a 29-0 lead. Loudonville tacked on a score on a 52-yard touchdown run before the half ended, and it was 29-6 East Knox at the break.

In the third quarter, Lester connected with Bracen Davis for a 42-yard touchdown pass to fo up 35-6, but Loudonville was able to respond with a Matt Sprang touchdown pass to put the score at 35-12. He also threw a 37-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to make it a 35-18 game at the end of three.

Lester ran the ball in himself in the fourth quarter on a two-yard score, and Jensen hit the extra point fo go up 42-18. Sprang threw his third touchdown pass of the day for three yards, but the difference was far too great and the Bulldogs cruised to a big win.

Lester was 12-for-20 for 181 yards, three touchdown passes and a pick. He also had one rushing touchdown. Elliott ran 23 times for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Davis had a big game receiving with six catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. Householder caught five passes for 66 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, Jensen had six tackles and an interception. Elliott tallied 16 total tackles, with one for a loss. Householder had a sack and seven total tackles. Field also tallied a sack and three tackles.

Elliott has been one of the best running backs in KMAC this season, and with his big week he now has 1,099 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns with a 7.74 yard per carry clip. On defense he has a KMAC high 113 tackles and two sacks, while Householder leads the league with 10 sacks to go with his 61 tackles. Davis has a KMAC leading 36 catches for 536 yards and seven touchdowns. 

Sprang went 17-for-33 for 207 yards, three touchdowns and one interception to lead the Redbirds.

It is the final week of the season for both teams, with East Knox traveling to Danville in a battle of two of the top KMAC teams. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Loudonville travels to Northmor on Friday for a 7 p.m. matchup.
