Licking Valley volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory over Utica

Licking Valley went up big in the first set with a 17-8 lead, but Alexa Gosnell showed some spark on defense with a solid dig to save a point. Lexi Wiegand also had a dig in the set at 24-16. 

In the second set, Licking Valley was up 10-4, but Lauren Schmitt recorded a block kill to put the Redskins down by five. Wiegand had a dig when the Redskins were down 16-10 and then made it a three-point game on a Gosnell kill to put the score at 18-15. Licking Valley cruised the rest of the way and held in for the set win. 

In the third set, Hannah Shaver made it a 15-10 game on a hard spike kill. Kristen Ryan then followed with an ace to make it a four-point game. The Redskins then took a lead on an Emilee Ellis ace to go up 21-10, and Madison Yates had a kill to go up 24-22. Callie Baker finished off the set with an ace to take the win for Utica. 

Licking Valley went on to dominate the fourth set 25-10 to secure the set and match. 

Utica had 19 kills as a team that were spread out. Shaver had four kills, while Leigha Burnett, Ellis, and Schmitt each had three kills. Wiegand led the defense with 18 digs, and Emma Kimpel added seven digs. Gosnell had seven digs and two kills. Ellis and Gosnell were the setters with nine and seven assists respectively.
