Milford Township may be looking for part-time help with its ditching needs on local roads.

An injury has made completing the work difficult, Milford Township Trustee Chair George Blocker Jr. told the Mount Vernon News on Tuesday.

He said the township’s trustees discussed road ditching at their meeting on Monday night.

“We talked about some equipment repair. Our large truck needs a little bit of repair before we go into winter. We're going to get that started,” Blocker said.

Ditching is required on Simmons Church Road, South Simmons Church, he said. It’s tough getting any project done with just one worker, he said. So the trustees are thinking about hiring a part-time worker to help out.

The township just tries to maintain and take care of the storm damage and keep the water flowing, he said.

The Milford Township Zoning Board has held a few work sessions and public meetings on changes to the township zoning code. That draft resolution has been sent to the Regional Planning Commission.

The Township Zoning Board is distinctly separate from the trustees, and this allows residents to have more input, he said.

“Eventually it will come back to us, but there’ll be a couple more public hearings before it actually gets voted on whether we institute or not. Right now, I think we’re just looking for the input from Regional Planning on what they had to say,” Blocker said.
